Food Handler Classes
The Food Handler Safety Class teaches important safety techniques for food handlers. Food handlers are essentially anyone who works in the food industry, including restaurants, schools, caterers, daycare’s and temporary vendors. Participants receive a food handlers safety card upon completion. Please note that our food handler class is not a ServSafe certification.
If you have already received formal food handler training from another Kansas City Metro jurisdiction, you only need that jurisdictions food handler card, if it is not expired. You DO NOT need to transfer it to a Cass County Food Handler Card. Please see attachment for a list of participating jurisdictions. Food Handlers MOA w summary
You may obtain a food handler’s card one of three ways:
- Online through State Food Safety.com. You will need to take the class for Cass County Missouri, upon completion, a certificate will be available for you to print and bring to the Cass County Health Department to obtain your Official Food Handler Card. The certificate is only valid for 30 Days. If you do no obtain your official card before the expiration date, you will be required to pay and complete the online course again.
- Classes offered monthly by the Cass County Health Department (See below to register for a class)
- Transfer from ServSafe for $5. Please bring in ServSafe certificate to the Health Department.
Cass County Health Department prints Food Handler Cards on Tuesday and Thursday ONLY for transfers and Statefoodsafety.com certificates at the Cass County Health Department:
